Equipment & Manufacturing West Africa and LASG Safety Conference trigger MICE tourism revival in Nigeria.

Following Lagos State government easing of restriction on Social gathering and events centers, the MICE industry in Nigeria once again is coming to life, with the recently concluded Equipment & Manufacturing West Africa (EMMA-2021) that took place at the Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island Lagos, between 26-28 of April this year.

According to a statement by the Lagos Safety Commission, the easing of restrictions on social and event centres takes immediate effect, however an Event Safety Clearance is expected to be obtained from the Lagos State Safety Commission through its website for any proposed event or exhibition.

The Equipment & Manufacturing West Africa is the foremost exhibition dedicated to the manufacturing sector and provides a platform for companies to showcase the latest innovation, industrial equipment and at the same time create a conducive networking environment for buyers and suppliers. Incidentally, the maiden edition of the Lagos State Safety and Health Conference also took place concurrently at the same Landmark Event Center.

Tourism industry stakeholders hoped that MICE tourism, stalled for a year, would be revived, as it had now become clear that events such as these could be safely organised if the COVID protocol was strictly adhered to. Most players in MICE tourism had become frustrated, as they thought that it could take years for the pandemic situation to end and conferences to return, now it seems confidence have been instilled said an expert.
